The Level 3 Cyber Security Analyst Apprenticeship, underpinned by the Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma, is a robust, work-based programme designed to develop the junior technical talent your organisation needs to identify and mitigate these vulnerabilities.
Core Competencies
This 77-credit programme ensures your staff master the essential skills required to protect organisational data and maintain security operations:
- Security Monitoring: Apprentices learn to assist with responding to cyber security alerts from SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools and other security systems.
- Incident Response: They gain practical skills in supporting incident response and escalating critical issues to security engineers where appropriate.
- Risk Assessment: The framework mandates training in Carrying out Information Security Risk Assessments and Incident Management Activities.
- Information Governance: Apprentices master the Principles of Information Governance and Assurance, ensuring your business operates within legal and professional frameworks.

This apprenticeship is designed for Welsh employers seeking to develop junior technical talent to protect organisational systems. It is ideal for school or college leavers and existing staff looking to upskill into roles like Junior Cyber Security Analyst, ensuring a pipeline of secure digital talent.

Delivery Model
- 21 month programme
- Monthly 1:1s with an experienced Project Manager
- On-site / remote observations to gather evidence for portfolio
- 4 Assessment Workshops
Qualification
- Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Cyber Security (145 Credits)
- Assessment is via assignments and a portfolio of work-based evidence. There are no examinations in this Apprenticeship.
Graduates can progress to the Level 4 Cyber Security Analyst Apprenticeship or a relevant degree apprenticeship. To specialise, employees should pursue vendor-specific certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Cisco Certified Security Technician (CCST)

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Cyber Seucrity is fully-funded for individuals who are eligible for Welsh Apprenticeship Funding. To be eligible for an Apprenticeship in Wales you must be:
- Aged 16 or above
- Living in Wales or working at least 51% of your time in Wales
- Employed for at least 16 hours per week or Self Employed; and
- Have the support of your employer to complete the Apprenticeship
A Non-Apprenticeship option to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Cyber Security is available for participants who do not meet the eligibility criteria for funding. The tuition fees for completing the Diploma are £2,995 inclusive of VAT..
