Level 3 Diploma in Cyber Security

The Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Cyber Security is a work-based technical qualification designed to develop the professional competencies required to identify and mitigate threats to information systems. This qualification equips learners with the practical skills needed to operate as Junior Cyber Security Analysts within a modern digital landscape.

The curriculum focuses on protecting organisational data, maintaining secure operations, and ensuring compliance with legal and professional frameworks.

Core Learning Outcomes

The qualification is built around four key technical domains:

  • Security Monitoring: Learn to monitor and respond to cyber security alerts using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools and other professional security systems.
  • Incident Management: Develop practical skills in supporting incident response, including the identification, documentation, and escalation of critical security issues.
  • Risk Assessment: Gain proficiency in conducting formal Information Security Risk Assessments and executing structured incident management activities.
  • Information Governance: Master the principles of information governance and assurance to ensure organisational operations remain secure and legally compliant.

Why choose the Occupational Qualification Route?

The Occupational Qualification is a fast-track route to obtaining the Level 3 Diploma in Cyber Security.

Occupational qualifications are similar to apprenticeships but without the need for WEST tests, employee rights and responsibilities and apprenticeship reviews. They are suitable for existing employees with some experience who wish to formally accredit their competence.
