The Level 2 IT Apprenticeship in Wales is an entry-level work-based learning programme designed to build essential digital capabilities within your workforce. Underpinned by the Agored Cymru Level 2 Diploma in Digital Application Support, this apprenticeship provides the foundational technical skills required to use, process, and share digital information effectively in a professional environment.

This IT Apprenticeship is ideal for:
- Junior Support Staff: Those looking to progress into Application Support Analyst or ICT Lead roles.
- New Recruits: School or college leavers looking to start a career in IT support or digital operations.
- Existing Staff: Employees in administrative or operational roles who act as the “go-to” person for software issues and want to formalise their skills.
Delivery Model
- Work-Based Learning: Training is integrated into the apprentice’s daily role, with evidence collected from real-world tasks.
- Ongoing Support: Regular 1-to-1 sessions with an industry-experienced assessor to guide progress.
- Portfolio-Based Assessment: Achievement is determined through a portfolio of work-based evidence. There are no exams required.
- Duration: Typically 12–15 months.
Qualification
- Agored Cymru Level 2 Diploma in Digital Application Support (64 Credits)
- Mandatory Units: Sharing Digital Information, Preparing Documents and Publications, Data Processing, Digital System Security, and IT Project Management.
- Optional Units: A flexible selection including Specialist and Bespoke Software, Database Applications, Multimedia Products, and Online Collaboration.
Upon completion of the Level 2 IT Apprenticeship, participants can progress to the Level 3 IT Apprenitceship or a Technical Apprenticeship in Software Development, Data Analytics or Cybersecurity.

The Level 2 IT Apprenticeship in Wales is fully-funded for individuals who are eligible for Welsh Apprenticeship Funding. To be eligible for an Apprenticeship in Wales you must be:
- Aged 16 or above
- Living in Wales or working at least 51% of your time in Wales
- Employed for at least 16 hours per week or Self Employed; and
- Have the support of your employer to complete the Apprenticeship
A Non-Apprenticeship option to complete the Level 2 Diploma in Digital Application Support is available for participants who do not meet the eligibility criteria for funding. The tuition fees for completing the Diploma are £2,495 inclusive of VAT.
