We’re offering STEM Teachers across South Wales, the opportunity to upskill to deliver the new WJEC Level 2 suite of Semiconductor qualifications, the first available in the UK. Taught via a blended model, with a 1-day “Train the Trainer” workshop, teachers will achieve a WJEC Level 2 Certificate in Semiconductors through participating in one of our CPD programmes.

Our Comound Semiconductors Teacher CPD Course aligns to the Science and Technology AoLE and provides tangible evidence of Careers and Work-Related Experiences (CWRE).

The Compound Semiconductors Teacher CPD programme is designed for Secondary School STEM Teachers, although Primary School Teachers and Teachers/Tutors in alternative education settings may apply.

There are no formal entry requirements for this programme. Candidates applying to undertake this programme should possess an interest in science and technology.

If applicants intend to complete any part of this programme online they should ensure that they have a device and an account that is capable of accessing Google Classroom (personal Gmail accounts are acceptable if your school restricts access).

  • 4 weeks self-paced study via online interactive modules
  • 1 in-person “Train the Trainer” workshop

  • Up to two 1:1s with a Certified Tutor

Qualification included

  • WJEC Level 2 Certificate in Semiconductor Technologies

The Compound Semiconductor Teacher CPD course is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to teach the new suite of WJEC Semiconductors in schools. If you enjoy this course, you may think about enrolling onto the WJEC Level 4 Higher Technical Certificate in Semiconductor Technologies starting in September 2026.

The Compound Semiconductor Teacher CPD Course costs £1,495 per person. However, if you teach at a school in the Cardiff Capital Region or within the Swansea SA1 – SA15 region, you may be eligible for 100% funding to cover your tuition and awarding registration fees, via CS Connected’s Sparking STEM Futures initiaitve.
