Key Details

The PRINCE2® Foundation qualification establishes a core understanding of the PRINCE2 project management methodology. Suitable for project team members, departmental managers, and aspiring project leads, this course covers the fundamental principles, processes, and themes required to manage projects successfully. Candidates learn standard project terminology, role responsibilities, and structured framework delivery. Upskilling your staff with PRINCE2 Foundation establishes consistent project management practices across business units. It ensures non-specialist managers and project contributors can collaborate effectively, align with corporate governance, and support predictable project delivery within budget and schedule constraints.

  • Module 1: Introduction to PRINCE2 Principles and Governance – Covers the universal baseline principles that underpin the PRINCE2 framework and standardised project terminology.
  • Module 2: Organisational Roles and Project Responsibilities – Details how to structure project teams, assign key roles, and ensure effective communication across corporate governance structures.
  • Module 3: Core PRINCE2 Themes and Management Controls – Explores the business case, quality control, risk assessment, and budget/schedule monitoring tools.
  • Module 4: Managing Projects Through the PRINCE2 Processes – Maps out the step-by-step lifecycle of a project, from initiating and directing to delivering predictable outcomes and project closure.

Candidates engage with formative progress checks, knowledge-testing quizzes, and practical scenario exercises throughout the course to validate comprehension prior to final evaluation. Summative assessment consists of an invigilated, 60-minute closed-book examination comprising 60 multiple-choice questions. A pass mark of 55% (33 out of 60 marks) is required to achieve official certification.

Successfully achieving PRINCE2® Foundation serves as an essential stepping stone towards roles such as Project Support Officer, Project Coordinator, or Junior Project Manager. It directly satisfies the prerequisite for advancing to the PRINCE2® Practitioner qualification to master practical application and tailoring. Candidates can also progress towards complementary methodologies like PRINCE2 Agile®.

There are no formal academic prerequisites required to enrol on the PRINCE2® Foundation programme, making it accessible to aspiring project management professionals. Candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) based on relevant workplace or administrative experience. Basic familiarity with corporate project environments is beneficial but not essential.
