Key Details

The Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) credential establishes essential baseline knowledge of cloud computing and native Azure services. Suitable for business leaders, project managers, and entry-level IT professionals, this course delivers a foundational understanding of Azure architecture, management, governance, and cloud economics. Enrollees learn how cloud deployment models drive business agility while controlling operating expenditure. Validating this foundational capability across your workforce creates shared technical literacy, streamlines cross-functional communication, and empowers decision-makers to champion cloud initiatives that support your organisation’s strategic goals.

  • Module 1: Cloud Concepts – Focuses on foundational cloud knowledge, exploring the shared responsibility model, consumption-based pricing, and cloud deployment categories including public, private, and hybrid models. It details key advantages of cloud adoption, such as high availability, scalability, elasticity, reliability, and predictability.
  • Module 2: Azure Architecture and Services – Examines core architectural components of Azure, including regions, availability zones, subscriptions, and resource groups. It covers primary compute, networking, storage, and database solutions, evaluating services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Blob Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
  • Module 3: Azure Management and Governance – Addresses cost management strategies, security guardrails, and compliance mechanisms across Azure environments. It details identity, governance, and monitoring tools, including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Policy, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Azure Resource Manager, and Azure Monitor.

Candidates engage in continuous formative evaluation throughout the programme, utilising interactive knowledge checks, scenario-driven practice questions, and mock exams to reinforce core concepts. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) examination, a 45-minute closed-book assessment comprising 40 to 60 multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and matching items. Candidates must achieve a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 or higher to demonstrate foundational competency and earn their certification.

Achieving this certification opens direct entry pathways into foundational technology roles, such as Cloud Operations Assistant, Junior Cloud Specialist, IT Support Technician, and Cloud Business Analyst. Successful candidates are ideally positioned to advance towards role-based Microsoft Associate credentials, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204). Furthermore, this credential provides an authoritative conceptual baseline for executive post-candidate studies in enterprise cloud architecture and digital transformation strategy.

There are no formal academic or technical prerequisites required to enrol in this foundational course, making it accessible to aspiring IT professionals and non-technical business personnel alike. Applicants without formal qualifications are welcomed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), drawing upon lived workplace experience in administrative support, project coordination, or general operations. A foundational awareness of standard IT terminology and internet navigation is recommended to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
