The IASSC® Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (ICYB) establishes a core grounding in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and process improvement techniques. Designed for process owners, team leads, and operational staff, this certification introduces fundamental DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) concepts, waste reduction, and basic quality control tools. Candidates learn how to support improvement initiatives and gather relevant process data. Upskilling your staff to Yellow Belt level creates widespread process awareness across departments, enables effective contribution to larger improvement projects, and fosters a continuous improvement culture focused on operational efficiency and defect reduction.

  • Module 1: Define Phase and Lean Enterprise Fundamentals – Covers Six Sigma baseline principles, Voice of the Customer (VOC) tools, project charter development, and foundational Lean concepts including waste identification and 5S methodology.
  • Module 2: Measure Phase and Process Performance – Details process mapping using SIPOC diagrams, data collection strategies, basic descriptive statistics, measurement system analysis, and process capability metrics.
  • Module 3: Control Phase and Continuous Improvement Controls – Explores mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke), standardisation techniques, Statistical Process Control (SPC) basics, and robust control plans to sustain long-term process gains.

Candidates participate in continuous formative evaluations throughout the course, engaging with interactive knowledge checks, dataset scenario exercises, and mock examination to track conceptual understanding. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated PeopleCert IASSC Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt examination.

Achieving this certification provides a direct entry pathway into junior and operational roles, such as Business Administrator, Production Operator, or Quality Assurance Operator. Successful candidates who complete this Certification can also progress onto the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

There are no formal academic prerequisites required to enrol in this combined programme, making it accessible to anyone from any sector. A foundational understanding of corporate environments and product or service delivery workflows is recommended to gain maximum value from the course.
