Key Details

The IASSC® Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) confirms high-level expertise in leading complex, enterprise-wide process improvement projects. Targeted at senior operational leads, quality directors, and continuous improvement managers, this qualification covers advanced statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, Lean principles, and change management strategies. Black Belts manage high-impact DMAIC projects and mentor Green Belts across business units. Certifying technical leadership to the Black Belt standard empowers your organisation to systematically resolve complex operational challenges, optimise cross-functional workflows, and achieve significant financial and operational improvements aligned with strategic corporate objectives.

  • Module 1: Define Phase – Covers advanced continuous improvement principles, project charter formulation, financial evaluation, waste identification, and aligning organisational strategies with Critical to Quality (CTQ) metrics.
  • Module 2: Measure Phase – Focuses on comprehensive process mapping, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), advanced Measurement System Analysis (MSA) for variable and attribute data, and statistical process capability evaluation.
  • Module 3: Analyse Phase – Explores multi-vari patterns, inferential statistics, sampling methodologies, and rigorous hypothesis testing across parametric and non-parametric data sets.
  • Module 4: Improve Phase – Details advanced modelling techniques, including simple and multiple linear regression, non-linear data transformation, and Full and Fractional Factorial Designed Experiments (DOE) to optimise process variables.
  • Module 5: Control Phase – Teaches advanced Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting, Lean control tools such as Kanban and Poka-Yoke, and the formulation of detailed control and response plans to sustain long-term performance gains.

Candidates participate in continuous formative evaluations throughout the course, engaging with interactive knowledge checks, dataset scenario exercises, and mock examination to track conceptual understanding. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated PeopleCert IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt examination.

Achieving this certification provides a direct entry pathway into key operational roles, such as Product Manager roles or more senior Quality Assurance roles.

Candidates should hold a valid Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Candidates without formal credentials are welcomed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), drawing upon lived workplace experience in project support, administration, or operational delivery. A foundational understanding of corporate environments and project delivery workflows is recommended to gain maximum value from the course.
