Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
CSSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Invest in the CSSC Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt programme to empower your employees with the fundamental skills of process improvement and efficiency. This foundational certification equips your workforce—from operational staff to business analysts—with a cohesive understanding of the Lean Six Sigma methodology, building a common language for continuous improvement across all departments.
This structured programme focuses on four critical concepts:
- Introduction to Lean Six Sigma: Employees learn the history and philosophy of both Lean (waste reduction) and Six Sigma (variation reduction), understanding the synergistic value of combining these two methodologies. They grasp the structure of Lean Six Sigma projects and the defined roles (e.g., Yellow, Green, Black Belts).
- The Define and Measure Phases (Introduction): Employees are introduced to the first two phases of the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) framework. They learn to define a problem effectively using a Project Charter, map a process with tools like SIPOC, and understand how to collect reliable data and establish baseline performance metrics.
- Core Lean Principles: Employees explore flexible Lean tools for identifying and eliminating the 8 Wastes (Muda) in any process, such as overproduction, waiting, and defects. They also learn basic concepts like Value Stream Mapping.
- Basic Statistical Concepts: Employees are introduced to fundamental process performance metrics and basic data interpretation, allowing them to understand the data-driven approach of Six Sigma and contribute effectively to an improvement team.
By achieving this certification, your team gains the necessary foundational knowledge to actively participate in high-impact Lean Six Sigma projects, accelerating your operational excellence initiatives and providing the perfect springboard for advanced, role-based certifications.
The course is typically delivered across the following key modules:
- History and Structure of Lean Six Sigma
- Understanding the DMAIC Framework and Yellow Belt Role
- The Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Project Charter
- Process Mapping (SIPOC and High-Level Flowcharts)
- The 8 Wastes of Lean (Muda) and Value-Added vs. Non-Value-Added Activities
- Introduction to Basic Data Collection and Process Metrics
- Introduction to Standard Work and Visual Management
The following concepts are assessed in the CSSC Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt exam:
- Describe the Lean Six Sigma structure and the Yellow Belt’s contribution.
- Identify and define a process improvement opportunity (Define Phase).
- Identify the 8 Wastes (Muda) and non-value-added steps in a process.
- Describe basic data collection and process metric concepts (Measure Phase).
This foundational certification is essential for any employee seeking a strong grounding in process improvement methodologies and a clear understanding of how to contribute to organisational efficiency.
It is ideal for:
- Operational Staff & Team Members: Those needing to effectively interpret, request, and contribute to continuous improvement projects within their daily roles.
- Aspiring Process Professionals: Individuals taking their first step toward roles like Lean Practitioner, Process Analyst, or Green Belt.
- Technical Teams (Non-Process Specialists): Developers or IT professionals who support process and business initiatives, ensuring they use the correct terminology and apply efficiency principles.
- Managers: Leaders who need to make informed strategic decisions regarding quality and efficiency investments and infrastructure.
The course ensures your employees can navigate and contribute effectively to any process improvement project your organisation undertakes.
