Key Details

The Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900) delivers a comprehensive overview of cloud security paradigms across Microsoft services. Targeted at risk officers, line managers, and IT personnel, this training covers Zero Trust architecture, identity management with Microsoft Entra, threat protection, and data governance via Microsoft Purview. Enrolling staff in SC-900 instils a proactive security mindset across your organisation. It ensures non-specialist stakeholders comprehend risk management requirements, supporting regulatory compliance and protecting corporate assets without hindering operational efficiency.

  • Module 1: Concepts of Security, Compliance, and Identity – Focuses on foundational security principles, including the shared responsibility model, defence-in-depth, Zero Trust frameworks, encryption, hashing, and core governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) concepts.
  • Module 2: Capabilities of Microsoft Entra – Examines identity and access management capabilities within Microsoft Entra ID, detailing authentication methods, Conditional Access policies, identity protection, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and identity governance workflows.
  • Module 3: Capabilities of Microsoft Security Solutions – Explores cloud security management and threat protection tools, covering Azure network security infrastructure, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Defender XDR suite, and Microsoft Sentinel SIEM/SOAR capabilities.
  • Module 4: Capabilities of Microsoft Compliance Solutions – Covers data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance features within Microsoft Purview, detailing sensitivity labels, data loss prevention (DLP), insider risk management, eDiscovery, and Compliance Manager.

Candidates participate in continuous formative evaluations throughout the course, engaging with interactive knowledge checks, scenario-driven practice questions, and mock examination modules to monitor progress. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated Microsoft SC-900 examination, a 45-minute closed-book assessment comprising 40 to 60 multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and matching items. Candidates must achieve a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 or higher to demonstrate foundational competence and earn their official certification.

Achieving this certification opens direct entry pathways into foundational security and technical support roles, such as Junior Cyber Security Analyst, IT Helpdesk Technician, Cloud Support Assistant, and Compliance Coordinator. Successful candidates are ideally positioned to advance towards role-based Microsoft Associate security credentials, including Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200), Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), or Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400). Furthermore, this credential provides an authoritative conceptual foundation for executive post-candidate study in digital risk governance and cyber strategy.

There are no formal academic or technical prerequisites required to enrol in this foundational course, making it accessible to aspiring cyber security professionals, business stakeholders, and IT personnel alike. A foundational awareness of cloud computing concepts and general Microsoft 365 or Azure service navigation is recommended to ensure optimal progression through the curriculum.
