Advanced Manufacturing
The Advanced Manufacturing sector is one of the main sources of GDP for the Welsh Economy. We’ve been talking about Industry 4.0 within the sector for more than a decade. Yet, for many manufacturers, the tangible meaning of Industry 4.0 is still as elusive as it was when the phrase was first coined by the German Government in its ‘High Tech Strategy’ published in 2011.
In our series of bespoke, industry-led programmes, we explore the value that different industry 4.0 technologies offer to the Advanced Manufacturing sector: from 3D printing, to Simulation and Digital Twins, the Internet of Things (IoT) and beyond. We support Welsh manufacturers to explore and prepare for the Cyber Security threats that come with new digital technology and develop robust investment proposals to justify digital transformation projects.
For managers, our programmes explore the human side of Industry 4.0: from scientific management theory to modern methods of engaging, empowering and catalysing the manufacturing workforce. Technology is automating mundane and repetitive tasks, challenging workers to develop new skills, and ultimately enabling us to be more creative, agile, and innovative. The very things that humans were made to be.
So is industry 4.0 a technological revolution, or an evolution in human behaviour? Apply to one of our programmes to find out what Industry 4.0 means for your business or your career in the Advanced Manufacturing sector in Wales.
